I started out playing at the tender age of 10 with Horden Salvation Army YP Band, and was on tenor horn for about 5 years with them, then an opportunity to play with a First Section Band came along that band was Head Wrightsons Works Band, unfortunately not long after winning the 1st Section Championships the works closed and the band followed. I then joined HMF Army and served 25 years achieving the Rank of Warrant Officer. During this period of service brass music was not part of my life, I took up the tenor horn again 30 or so years later when I joined a local band at Trimdon and got the bug once again, I moved quickly up the ranks so to speak and played euphonium for them for a couple of years.
I joined Pittington Brass in the summer of 2006 as Principle Euphonium and have been in that position to date, I enjoy very much arranging music for the band and have done several pieces including a new march that I composed for the bands 20 anniversary. I am also on the band committee as Deputy Chairperson and have been involved with the production of this our first Web Site.
I also am involved with the junior training band as the trainer and have arranged music for them also.
I look forward to being part of future success of both bands.
