The evening of Friday 13 May; a night remember at Bowburn Community Centre. In front of a packed house Pittington Brass and The Rock choir joined forces in a celebration of music and song in support of St Cuthbert’s Hospice. The audience were enthralled to listen to Pittington Brass blast out old brass standards such as the ‘Floral Dance’, peppered by less traditional brass renditions of songs from Elvis and The Beatles.
The Rock Choir’s unique take on modern classics such a ‘Budapest’, ‘Give a Little Respect’, ‘Something Inside So Strong’ and ‘Higher Love’ soon had the audience singing along. The interval saw a well supported raffle with a number of highly desirable prizes donated by local businesses. The highlight of the evening was the finale. A rousing joint rendition of Neil Diamond’s ‘Sweet Caroline’ soon had the audience on their feet singing and dancing to end the evening in style.
The whole event was a resounding success and raised the sum of £807.20 for St Cuthbert’s Hospice. Many thanks to all of those who kindly donated their time a money for a fantastic local cause. www.stcuthbertshospice.com/
